How to handle problems with hardwood floors after contractor refinish, see photos.?

That is obviously a terrible job of restoring a hardwood floor. For me, that’s unacceptable. One thing I noticed that you didn’t note are the finish nails which are clearly visible. These should have been set and filled with a stain-able putty so as to be invisible. I wouldn’t call the Contractor “professional,” at least where hardwood flooring is concerned. Personally, I would be ashamed of the job and do everything I could to fix it. Including starting over from scratch. If you have a written contract, read it carefully. There should be a clause about substandard workmanship. Also, get a few opinions from flooring specialists about what would be needed to re-do the job satisfactorily and how much they would charge. Then confront your Contractor with them. He should be willing to work with you on this. If not, then I’m afraid a lawsuit is the only resort. You just have to ask yourself if it’s really worth it..
