How To Install A Car Window On A 97 Mercury Mountaineer?

Like most cars, your Mountaineer is not much different when needing to change a window. The steps here specifically address a window on one of the 4 doors. Here are the general steps: • Move window to lowest position (if power window switch will allow) • Remove the door trim first (door handle and armrest) • Remove door panel • Access internals of door by peeling back the plastic that covers the access holes in the door. • Inside the door, you should see the window regulator which is attached to the arms that hold the window frame. At the very bottom of that frame, there is a horizontal metal piece to which the old window is still attached. Remove all the screws and bolts that hold the broken window and then remove any broken glass or casing. You may wish to retain any insulating material that goes in between the glass and the bolts. • Clean up the broken glass and debris with a shop vac • Insert the new window from the top of the door, being careful to slide it in between the channel
