How to litter train a chihuahua?
You do NOT diaper a dog, period. The only time a dog should be diapered is if they can’t physically hold it or they are in heat – any other time could cause infections. So diaper comes off. Litter training is useless if you EVER want your dog to go outdoors. By telling her it’s “okay” to potty at any time in the house, you are telling her that she doesn’t have to learn to hold anything in or to go outside. Some dogs wont ever go outside even if they CAN because they’ve learned to only go in the box. She can handle going outside to potty in the rain or snow – put a sweater on her or a rain coat and wait with her until she does something. Praise extra hard for it and don’t bring her in until she goes – of if it takes too long bring her back out after ten minutes of warming up inside. If worst comes to worst have her go out in the garage. Use a litter box with grass in it – i heard it works well.
