How to play Cassius in Julius Caesar?

For example, in the 1952 film, John Gielgud has Cassius’ hand keep twitching towards his dagger. He even partially draws it several times. What does your Cassius do with his hands? You already said you want to make him flamboyant with movement. Does he gesture wildly? Does he take Brutus by the shoulders? Does he knock the papers off of Brutus’ desk? Also, you might want to consider how much you want the audience to sympathize with your Cassius in this scene. I think that will determine a lot about your portrayal. Is Cassius being self indulgent, selfish and unreasonable, or is he expressing legitimate greif and anger at the potential loss of the friendship that means most to him?
