How to setup Nero recode 640×480?

I attempted to convert a .VOB DVD rip to MPEG-4 640×352 last night Nero Recode 2, but the process wasn’t exactly straight-forward and the result was not what I expected. After setting up a variation on the Nero Digital, Standard profile (MPEG-4/640×352/2510kbps/single pass/audio on automatic settings – roughly following this thread), I ran the encode. The resulting file plays back perfectly in VLC, but is corrupted with green blocks in iTunes. Obviously I’ve missed something in the setup, but I’m not sure what. I’m also unsure as to how to setup the audio encoding correctly. I was kind of disappointed at how awkward the program was to set up, but I must admit the quality of the playback in VLC was definitely superior to the same file ripped with Videora (the colours, esp. black, are much truer).
