How to test if a used baby crib is safe?
Here are the rules of thumb: A firm, tight-fitting mattress No loose, missing, or broken hardware or slats No more than 2 3/8″ between the slats (about the width of a soda can) No corner posts over 1/16″ high No cutout designs in the headboard or footboard If the used crib isn’t safe, don’t use it. IT COULD SAVE YOUR BABY’S LIFE! WATCH OUT CORDS AROUND THE WINDOWS Parents should keep window covering cords and chains permanently out of the reach of children. Never place a child’s crib or playpen within reach of a window blind. Unless the cords can be completely removed from the child’s reach, including when the child climbs on furniture, CPSC recommends against knotting or tying the cords together because this creates a new loop in which a child could become entangled.
