How were participation rates calculated? Will a school not make AYP if it tests less than 95% of its students?
The participation rate is the percentage of enrolled students who took the MCAS exam, excluding students with incomplete scores and alternate assessments. Beginning with Cycle III, a school must have a participation rate of 95% or higher to be considered to have made adequate yearly progress. This is true for both the overall school participation rate as well as the participation rates for each of the subgroups.
