How were you able to mobilise the militant groups in this state despite the dangers and threats?
It didn’t happen that suddenly. There has been a lot of hard work. Since I came in early 2007, we actually started with the policy of triple E- to engage them, empower and to enforce them. Over the period I think we have been able build a lot of confidence between us and them. Thus, when the time came, we were able to say gentlemen lets give peace a chance. I believe that without peace there cannot be any development. I also made it clear to them how their activities lead to the problems we have in terms of underdevelopment. They agreed and saw reason with me and decided that they will give peace a chance. So they disarmed. They wouldn’t have taken you into confidence that easily, because earlier this year you told the JTF to go into the creeks and get at the militants? At that time what I meant was very clear.
