How will CenterPoint Energy determine customer usage in the event the 15 minute data on the meter is lost?
The meter retains 15 minute interval data for slightly less than 400 days. There may be a temporary loss of communication, which would cause an inability to retrieve the data during the scheduled daily interrogation. In that case, the Missing Interval Monitor would identify the missing segment and create a request to retrieve. Should that process not be successful, CenterPoint Energy has the ability to request the data manually. For billing purposes, the daily register read – not the 15 minute interval data – is used. Should the Meter Data Management (MDM) system not be able to provide the register read, estimation would be done by CenterPoint Energy’s legacy billing system.
