How will FlyScreen affect my battery?
Ok, first of all: FlyScreen will not drain your battery! It really won’t. FlyScreen’s technology was built to not use up significant extra battery power to embed your content on your phone’s sleep screen. The actual amount just to render your content is so small that it’s very much still a power saving function. What does use up the battery are the update connections (for update frequency explanation, check out question 6). Remember- the amount of data used is directly related to the amount of battery used. So the way we see it, FlyScreen can actually be saving you battery life and data usage, by letting users not have to load entire pages every time they want to check headlines, updates, etc. For example: let’s say your favourite mobile news site takes only 65kb to load the whole page. However, 6 headlines from this site to your FlyScreen widget take approximately only 600 bytes or 0.6 kb. Let’s also assume there are about 15 new headlines a day from this news site.
