How will technology be incorporated into the UTM VCC classes?
The program strives to have at least 30 percent of each student’s mark be related to intellectual and scholarly projects that incorporate new media technology. At this early point in the VCC program, most of these projects concern web-based projects, though the nature of the technology component depends upon the specific interests and expertise of the faculty member. Currently, programs and languages that most students are using in the VCC courses are Photoshop, html, Dreamweaver or Adobe GoLive, WebCT (with options for individual student or project web-pages); and Flash. Students in upper-level VCC courses will have weekly lab-time where they can do supervised work on their technology-based projects. As most students come to the program with a variety of technology skill levels, the VCC program has the staff to help students either one-on-one or through class workshops in programs relevant to student projects.
