How will the Durham Region support a youth shelter?
The Region of Durham is providing per diem funding ($44.75 per bed per day) for the interim 10-bed shelter. Also, with the support of the Region of Durham, DYHSS has received funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, to hire an experienced Executive Director to run the shelter, develop services, establish partnerships, and lead a fundraising drive to ensure that we achieve our objectives. Additionally, we are pursuing funding from the business community, faith community, service organizations and foundations (see the “Our Supporters & Community Partners” page on this site for the list of donors to-date).
