How will the terminal or PC communicate with Bank of America?
All of our terminal and software programs require a single analog telephone line, with a standard modular telephone jack. These products dial local or toll free numbers to connect to our host for transaction processing, and will only access your telephone line when a transaction is being processed. Typically, a terminal will take 8–12 seconds to connect to the host, transmit transaction data, and receive an authorization or decline message. It is recommended that you install a dedicated line for your credit card terminal or software. However, if your are not expecting a high volume of activity, terminals can also be connected to the same telephone line as your fax machine, without interfering with its operation.
