How will Turkeys export strategy to the US compete with, for example, China and India?
T.K.: Turkey is known in world markets as a country which delivers orders on time and which produces high-quality products. Turkish export industry can have a larger share in the US markets only by producing high quality goods. We need to shift the crux of competition from price to quality t affordable prices. Turkish industry is now going through the phase of creating its own brands and collections, manufacturing more value added products, emphasizing more product development. In this context, The Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade embarked to set-up of the Turquality programme. This ambitious project aims to upgrade the international image of Turkish-made products. It also strives to provide the industry with a strong stimulus to upgrade and reposition on the higher segments of the now global market.
