How would cargo be handled on a MicroRail system?

0

Our small urban use only MicroRail is intended as a combination PRT and dualmode system, but also has a capability to carry small cargo containers between cargo stations. These cargo containers can carry only 1,000 rather than 6,000-lbs of cargo. Any use of the system for cargo would likely be limited to a few hours late at night when not many passengers are using the system. The cargo capability could be valuable as an in-city delivery method to large stores and shopping centers. Our larger inter-city MegaRail system is able to carry up to two tons of cargo in special container vehicle with a gross weight of 6,000-lbs. This cargo would be carried only between cargo terminals and is expected to be a major use of MegaRail. It should allow MegaRail to replace many, if not most, of the large over-the-road trucks now used.
