How would different temperature waters affect the growth of a plant?

Staphanie Dear It all depends upon the kind of plants. As different plants behave differently and growth is directly associated with photosynthesis rate. The rate of photosynthesis usually increases by increase in temperature up to 40°C for tropical plants. Above this temperature, there is a decrease in the rate of photosynthesis. High temperature results in the denaturation of enzymes and thus the dark reaction is affected. Temperature requirement for the optimum photosynthesis varies with the plant types. For example, photosynthesis stops in many plants at 0°C but in some conifers it occurs even at -35°C. Similarly photosynthesis stops beyond 40 to 50°C in certain plants; but certain bacteria, bluegreen algae and angiopserms as cacti can perform photosynthesis even at 70°C.
