Answer Hi Cheryl, Yes, mosquitoes are a side effect of growing carnivorous plants. Too bad the plants don’t eat them as well. We use those mosquito dunks. They contain a bacteria that feed on mosquito larvae, but are harmless to carnivorous plants. So far, it is the best solution we’ve found to keeping mosquitoes at bay. It also helps to empty out your trays and refill them with fresh water on a monthly basis. If you have a lot of plants, I know this can be a hassle, but it is so worth it if you like to sit outdoors during those balmy summer evenings. Happy growing!
