How would you feel/react if Mattell made Barbies and Kens representing your god or gods?
While Mattell isn’t who I would choose to create a likeness of my gods, I’m probably not likely to get overly worked up about this. I don’t believe they did this to be offensive. They are simply drawing from a rich mythology – there’s some great characters to represent there in Mattell’s mind and while these are gods to us, they are just fantastical stories to them. Unless they were offensive likenesses or the descriptions were written in an insulting way (and they don’t seem to be) I’m not upset. If they made one representing a god I honored I might even buy one. I wouldn’t put it on my altar though.
