Comparisons between international content produced by Indian media may be made with that produced by some mainstream international organisations like BBC, CNN, NYT, TIME, Guardian, WSJ, FT etc. Indian journalists working in print these days are victims of shortage of space. They are forced to follow the new trend of writing the most complex story in 300 words. It is frustrating but that is what the market leaders have done to our trade. The magazines have more space but still there is no magazine in India which can compare with The New Yorker or Harper`s or The Atlantic Monthly. We skim the surface and feel happy. But we have little choice — most Indian papers and magazines have small budgets for travel within the United States. Therefore the coverage tends to be Washington or New York-centric. The twin deficits of resources and space affect the coverage. By contrast, the BBC can afford to devote more serious time/space to covering India than a major Indian paper can to covering eithe
