A U.S. CPA will need to be admitted as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, complete the application form for a public accounting licence and meet the standards prescribed by the Institute for qualification for licensing as a public accountant. There is no longer any provision for granting temporary licences or permits by the Public Accountants Council or by the Institute. To apply for membership in the Institute on the basis of being a CPA in good standing with a state board of accountancy in the United States with which the Institute has reciprocity (CA-CPA Reciprocity). You must hold a CPA certificate in good standing (or a CPA certificate and a licence) issued by a state board of accountancy which has adopted the 150 hour education requirement prescribed by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
