The following text can be used in the veterinary care subsection. “The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is fully accredited by the American Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Care, International (AAALAC). An Animal Welfare Assurance is on file with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW). Animals are housed and maintained in accordance with the applicable portions of the Animal Welfare Act and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Veterinary care is under the direction of a full-time veterinarian boarded by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. Additional veterinary staff and veterinary technicians provide a complete comprehensive program of diagnostics, prevention, and clinical medicine at our facilities.
