For Access’ relational function to work properly, fields that are joined must be of the same data type. If you attempt to join a text field to a numeric field (autonumber, currency, etc.), for example, you will get the mismatch error. To correct the problem, open each table in design view, click on the field in question and change the data types so that they are similar in both tables). Proceed by recreating the relational join.
