Within 10 days of layoff, an F-4 needs to be processed and submitted to DPSST. This will inform DPSST that you are no longer with the Department due to layoff and effectively stop your training in place. There is a layoff section to the F-4. Upon rehire, we would need to complete another F-4 within 10 days to DPSST. This will allow the “clock to restart” for the purpose of allowing the one year for certification. If you return within six (6) months and need additional time to become certified, you will need to seek a waiver to complete training. Generally, layoffs have always been considered “good cause” for approval of waivers. When the waiver is approved, you will restart your training from where you left off in the process. If you return to work outside the six (6) month window, the same F-4 process will take place but the determination on where to restart training in BCC will be on a case-by-case basis.
