Tier 1 is a Points Based category very similar to the HSMP. Those who are currently in the UK under HSMP may continue until their current stay expires. At this point they will need to apply for an extension under Tier 1 and meet the requirements of this scheme. Once a candidate has spent 5 continuous years in the UK under HSMP, Tier 1 or a combination of the two then they may qualify for permanent residency. Please note that the Points required for Tier 1 and Tier 2 candidates can change at short notice depending on economic conditions in the UK.
