If you have already tried to install the router, and are unable to retrieve a WAN IP address, you may need to download the Wide Area Network patch. The only instances where you need to download the Patch are mainly for Users who connect using DHCP, and no matter what settings are changed, WAN IP Address stays 0.0.0.0, and you are using the Motorola Surfboard series or Com 21 modem. If this is the case then upgrade the firmware using the Wide Area Network Patch. Download the firmware, unzip to your hard drive first. 1. Open your Main Page of the router (EX: use your internet browser, type the address, 192.168.8.1, and hit GO) 2. Type your password (default: admin), and log in 3. Click into ADMINISTRATION page on your left hand side. 4. In the middle of the page, you will see the update firmware feature. click browse, find the update firmware on your hard drive ( OEM-RS-Vxxxx.upg) , click open, and click GO again on the Main Page 5. go back the update firmware page, click browse, find th
