If your vehicle has a 3000 lb towing capacity then a tent trailer is probably your best option, perhaps a small hard top. The tent trailer will keep the centre of gravity and side wind load lower, which will make for better handling. Your vehicle may be rated for 3000 lb, but most vehicles will have to work quite hard to maintain their maximum towing so I would suggest staying at least 500 lbs below the max. Remember to include the weight of anything you’ll be carrying on or in the trailer too.
