I have a Type 5 keyboard, and find its placement of the Caps Lock, Control, and Esc keys inconvenient. How do I remedy this?
Well, one remedy may be to buy the “UNIX layout” version of the Type 5; this option seems, unfortunately, to be little-known to Sun customers, and Sun may not be promoting it as they should. That keyboard has a layout much more friendly to the traditional UNIX user than do the normal PC-style layouts for the Type 5. If you don’t have that option, you can use the appropriate program to reprogram the keys; see the next question.
