BigBlueButton can run with other web based systems on the same server, but there are tradeoffs. If you already have apache running on port 80, you can have BigBlueButton listen to a different port (see bbb-conf). However, the trade off are remote users accessing behind a firewall can no longer tunnel through port 80 to BigBlueButton. As a result, we recommend installing BigBlueButton on it’s own dedicated server, making it easy to upgrade BigBlueButton without affecting your existing applications, and easy to upgrade the server as your usage of BigBlueButton grows. There are also some good instructions for setting up a server with BigBlueButton running on a different port at Ultimate Server Jaunty.
