I have been falsely accused of sexual harrassment at my work. What should I do?
I don’t know enough. If other employees made the same statement they must all have reason to believe you did this. Perhaps it’s the way you talk to people. I have no way of knowing that either. Yep, guys do claim sexual harassment. Girls these days can be kinda flirty, but one flirts with great care if they’re smart. There is just too much information that we are not entitled to know, but would need to know to give you any ideas, but perhaps you need to get a good lawyer or at least a counselor. I trust they will give you a chance to tell your side of the story. You really need professional help.
Get yourself a good attorney. If what you say is true you have an obligation to demand a hearing to clear your record. If you prove them wrong I would think your attorney fees would be a part of any settlement reached with the company. Than I would tell them to kiss off .I wouldn’t want to work for that type of an employer that only wants to hear one side of the issue. Good luck !
No less than two witnesses are required, at law, before an accusation may be decided. If such support for the claim cannot be substantiated, then it may be seen as discrimination, harassment, vendetta or all of these and there are government offices who can assist in that area. Obtain all paperwork that might be useful against libel. Consider looking for a better job as any ‘new’ claim may get you fired anyway.
