I have been informed that china has begun to add a jet fuel tax to the cost of their airline tickets, If so, how will this effect my airline ticket price?
– Top China National Development and Reform Commission and the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) have jointly decided on Tuesday July 26 that all passengers who take domestic flights within China will be required to pay from US $6.4 to $10.3 per ticket which varies according to the international fuel price when buying domestic tickets after August 1, 2005. The jet fuel surcharge is $ 6.4 per ticket for a distance less than 800 km and US$10.3 for a distance of more than 800 km. This policy is not applicable for flights to Hong Kong and Macao, as the airlines were authorized to levy additional fees in June, 2005 for those flights. We will add this fee to our tour quotations so that our customers will not have to worry about this charge. Customers who have confirmed their bookings with us are still required to pay the additional fees besides the confirmed tour price. Your travel advisor will contact you for the details.
