I have got a ball python 5 months old and am looking into getting him a vivarium. Is 60cm x 45 x 60cm too big?
The vivarium will not be too big….for now. Keep in mind that ball pythons get up to five-six feet in length when they reach maturity (females are bigger than the males – in length and girth). If you are looking at a new purchase, if you can afford the larger vivarium/living space, I would make the investment now. Balls grow relatively quickly – and you can’t really purchase “too big” of a living space for them. Having a hide spot is important for the health of your ball – throughout its life. Congrats on your choice of snake. Balls are great! My ball “Bob” turned me into a real reptile enthusiast…..we now provide homes for 3 red-tail boas, 2 garters, 1 pueblan, 1 snow corn…..and BOB, our ball.
