The Fund operates as a reinsurer to the primary insurance companies that provide mine subsidence insurance. As a reinsurer, the Fund does not establish the limit of insurance on any structure, but does establish the maximum limit of reinsurance available to the primary insurer. It is possible that some primary insurers may provide mine subsidence coverage in excess of the $15,000 limit reinsured.
