If you read your mail on, for example, a Macintosh or Microsoft Windows PC, it can be as useful to use the UNIX SpamAssassin to tag the mail on the server, and have filtering software built-in to the mail-reading client (i.e. on the Macintosh or Microsoft Windows PC) do the actual sorting of the mail based on those tags. In this case, a file named .procmailrc must be created in your home directory on the machine where your mail is normally delivered, and must contain the following to invoke the correct SpamAssassin client: :0fw | /software/spamassassin/bin/spamc If you already have a .procmailrc file, then you or someone else has already done some procmail configuration for you, and the above must be incorporated into your procmail configuration by a user who is knowledgeable about procmail.
