I want to take photos like the professionals, what digital camera sould i get?

It is not the camera which makes professional pictures it is the photographer. Sure a high end professional camera will give you more facilities but the first thing you need to do is learn about composition, light etc. Effects are normally done in post production so for that you would need a manipulation program such as Photoshop, Photoshop elements, Paint shop Pro or the like. If you want control over focus and depth of field then you are better off with a Dslr. There are a plethora of “entry level” dslr’s but the more common ones are from Nikon and Canon with Fuji coming next. Check out www.dpreview.com and look at their camera review pages.

Repeat 100 times: “It isn’t the camera, its the photographer.” 99% of bad pictures are the fault of the person using the camera when they really don’t know how to use it. Instead, they blame the camera and think “Oh if I just had a better camera” or “If I buy a camera like professional photographers use then my pictures will be professional quality”. It doesn’t work like that. Professional quality pictures are made by a person who understands light, composition, ISO, shutter speed and f-stops. They also know the capabilities of their camera and how to use it to its maximum. They know the limitations of their camera and how to work around them. Such people are either professional photographers or advanced amateurs. The only real difference is the pro earns their living with their camera.
