First thing you need to understand is the meaning of hypoallergenic. Hypo means low, not absent. So even hypoallergenic dogs will spark allergies in those who are severely allergic. Labradoodles are not always hypoallergenic. It’s a crapshoot- there are plenty of them out there which are not. A friend of my mother’s breeds them (yes, she’s dumb) and she has had some pups returned because they triggered owner allergies. At least the lady has the integrity to take them back. The original breeder of labradoodles (the Australian man who was trying for a hypoallergenic service dog) actually stopped breeding them for this reason. This dog may trigger allergies, it may not. No way of telling without taking it home, unfortunately.

First of all who told you that a Basenji was hypoallergenic? They are not! They are shorthaired and they shed so not hypoallergenic. As for mixing a hypoallergenic breed with a non hypoallergenic breed that does not make the breed hypoallergenic. I have had 4 vets tell us at our dog rescue that NO dog is completely hypoallergenic! People are not usually allergic to the dog hair but the dander that ALL dogs shed-some dogs just shed less than others. The closest dog to being totally hypoallergenic is the Bichon Frise. Shih tzus, lhasa Apso’s, Maltese, yorkies have hair while dogs like retrievers and Boxers have fur. Wirehair breeds can also be good for people with allergies and poodles are also highly recommended but cocker spaniels are not. Dogs 101 did have a show on it and there are some websites that can give you more info but I am almost 100% positive that a basenji and a redbone are not allergy free! I do know a little bit about the subject because I work dog rescue and those quest
