If HCG works so well for weight loss, why do pregnant women GAIN weight?
In pregnant women, HCG releases stored fat and allows the body to use it as energy to ensure adequate nutrition for both mother and fetus. The mother is still eating a normal diet–if not more! In non-pregnant women and men, HCG still causes the body to release the stored fat, although now there is no fetus to supply it to. When the person is on a very low calorie diet, the body will burn the stored fat for the energy it needs and eliminates the rest.
