If I submit a Payroll Expense Transfer for less than 5%, will ERS require the PI to recertify the effort report after the transfer is processed?
If the difference between the effort report and the actual effort expended is less than 5%, this is within the accepted tolerance threshold and you do not need to do a Payroll Expense Transfer. However if you choose to submit a payroll transfer, ERS will compare the Payroll % column with the Adjusted Payroll % column and change the report status to Reissued if the two columns do not match. The PI must recertify all Reissued effort reports to verify that an “over 120 days” correction was required on his/her fund.
