It sounds funny but most of the time when we see this type of problem is it is simply because the customer is trying to use a CD (older) in a DVD drive (newer) which does not support the CD “software”. Check the game’s original box, it should tell you what type of computer you need to play the game. If your game is not a match for your PC/Windows or CD/DVD player installed you can PROBABLY call the game company and tell them “the sales rep said it would work” and it is not working with your windows or something like that and get a freebie or voucher for exchange even if the actual store will not do an exchange or refund. Otherwise, I would suspect it is just a bad game or bad drive… JUST TO BE SURE you can try a different (SIMILAR) game in the same drive & also try to play your game in another (similar) computer same (windows and cd/dvd drive). You should be able to zero in on what the issue is here without needing to pay for professional help. Good Luck!

If you some other DVD and even that is not able to read.. then it is Drive problem Secondly, insert your game in some other DVD Drive and try.. If it works there then it is your drive problem.
