If my two sick fish make it through the ick, how long after they seem better should i add them to my main fish tank again?

I have also heard that ick is caused by sudden stress level or sudden temperature changes in your fish tank. My temperature has stayed at 78 degrees since I have set up the tank a week and a half ago, <... is this tank cycled?> and the fish in my tank seem to give each other no problems at all.
