If someone forces themselves into social isolation, will their brain somehow rewire?

I don’t know the answer to this specific question, but I do know there are studies to prove that if a newborn baby is kept fed and warm, but is given no human interaction, it will die within weeks. I imagine an adult wouldn’t die, but would probably become very ill – physically and mentally. For instance, people who live alone have a higher incindence of heart disease and cancer, because the stress of insufficient social bonds causes undesirable biological reactions in the body, Human beings are only successful as a social race, so I assume primal parts of the brain would detect the huge anomaly apparent in isolation, and make adjusting to this situation impossible – like trying to survive without food.
