If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill themselves, is it considered a hostage situation?
A really brilliant question and although I’m not a psychiatrist, I would venture to say that yes, this would be the case and set up some very interesting dialogue between all of them. Perhaps when threatened, the other personas would all gang up on the suicidal one and either kill him off psychologically or talk him out of it. They could also all be so frightened of the impending suicide(if they knew about it) that they would disappear forever, leaving only the original person who might be so relieved to find himself once more that he would want to live.
