If there is no added sugar, why is there still 13g of carbohydrates/250 ml portion of chocolate milk beverage with Splenda® and acesulfame-potassium ?
There is no added sugar, but lactose is present. Lactose is a major type of sugar (carbohydrate) found in milk and milk products, including human milk. Lactose is not found naturally in any other food aside from dairy products. Lactose makes up approximately 5% of the solids in milk, hence the 13 g of carbohydrates per 250 ml portion.
