If you recently bought a male betta fish why is it standing straight up still breathing and just falls straight down to the bottom of the fish tank and lands sideways?
It could be that the fish is still nervous about its new home. Give it a few days to let it adjust to its new home. Or it could be that the fish is sick. If the fish has trouble swimming and floating at different levels in the tank, it could be swim bladder disorder. Stop feeding for a few days and do water changes. Check to see if the fish has ich, small white dots on its body and fins. If it does, do a 100% water change and begin treating for ich.
