I’m confused. What is the difference between engineered and laminate flooring?

0

Before the introduction of plastic laminate flooring in the mid 90’s, engineered hardwood was referred to as laminate by the flooring industry. Ten years later it is still a source of confusion. An engineered hardwood floor is real hardwood throughout and is made up of layers or plies. Engineered wood has an actual finished hardwood veneer layer on the surface. Laminate floors feature a photographic image of a finished hardwood.
