I’m insured for lost luggage under an insurance policy, can I still use the service?

Yes. You can choose to claim up to the maximum statutory amount through us and not claim on your insurance policy. Alternatively, you can claim under your insurance policy and then use us to recover any excess you have had to pay under the policy. However because your insurer will have already asked the airline to pay its portion – up to the maximum SDR 1,000 limit – we can only help if your payout was below this amount. So if the current SDR value was £1,000 we can reclaim any excess up to this limit when added to the insurance payout you received.
