When using powered mains and subs, you often have two configuration choices; use the crossovers in the DriveRack or use the crossovers in the subs; this is referred to as a sub-satellite system. Not all powered subs can be configured as a sub-satellite system, but many of them nowadays are designed to function in this manner. Method 1: Using the DriveRack’s Crossover (Active 2-Way Configuration) This method takes a bit more work and know-how to properly configure if your speakers are not listed in the DriveRack. Typically, when using this type of “Custom” configuration you would need to configure the crossover and gain structure… and possibly some other parameters as well. If your speakers are not listed in the DriveRack and you use this method, you will be attempting to fine tune a speaker system which has already been fine tuned internally – by the speaker manufacturer.
