Eye contact is the key giveaway. You’ll find that your partner makes much less eye contact – it’s a sign of a lack of closeness. Sex may continue but often the kissing will stop as it’s a very intimate act. Planning for the future suddenly isn’t on the table. In a secure relationship your boyfriend will be saying – “there’s a festival/holiday we should go to next month / next year.” Instead you’ll only get day to day planning. You stop confiding in each other. An essential component of a relationship is the ability to open up and share secrets…when this disappears, the relationship is in danger.
