In general, what kind of gas mileage does an automatic Toyota Rav4 get?

IMHO the fuel economy will be based on the type of city driving ie: idling, elevation and total mileage per trip. Short answer: expect 24-25 using 87octane around town. expect 28-30 on the highway with the same octane. Using a significantly higher octane 90-92 may improve mpg on the freeway. this is not at high mountain elevations or in hilly/mountainous areas, mostly flat terrrain. Using non-overdrive around town may also help your mpg roi. I presume this is a 2007 or newer model. SLM w.mycarlady.  more
