Gaea was the titan earth goddess. The titans came before the Olympians. Aphrodite was the daughter of Zeus. Zeus was saved by his mother Rhea, who was the sister of Cronus…the leader of the titans. Zeus banished the titans to tartarus, and that is when the olympians took over. Prometheus is the titan who gave man fire. Pandora first woman on earth. Zeus ordered Hephaestus to create her as vengeance upon man and his benefactor, Prometheus. The gods endowed her with every charm, together with curiosity and deceit. Zeus sent her as a wife to Epimetheus, Prometheus’ simple brother, and gave her a box that he forbade her to open. Despite Prometheus’ warnings, Epimetheus allowed her to open the box and let out all the evils that have since afflicted man. Hope alone remained inside the box.

If you go back to ancient writings on greek mythology (which I study in depth) You’ll read the story of how the gods really came to be. Its not something thats easy to find. You have to hunt for it. The gods, except Zeus, were in fact nothing more that a group of humans given special abilities and powers to protect civilization from the wrath of the titans. The power went to their heads after etraping the titans and so they went to live above everyone else. Pandora was first, because in reality, all the other gods started out mortal. Pandora held all the secrets of the universe in her box. When all but hope was released, its said thats when man came to be.
