In the MCODES file there are three packets: VEHICLE TYPES, ROAD CLASSES, and SCCs. Of the 28 vehicle types available with MOBILE6, how many can be used in SMOKE?
The /VEHICLE TYPES/ section of the MCODES file is used to indicate valid vehicle types in your inventory. We when integrated MOBILE6 with SMOKE, most inventories only had 8 vehicle types so we wrote code to aggregate emission factors for the 28 vehicle types modeled by MOBILE6 into the 8 vehicle types typically found in the inventories. We are currently updating SMOKE to make this more flexible; EPA now has inventories that use 12 vehicle types and some states have inventories with 16 vehicle types. I haven’t seen an inventory with data for all 28 vehicle types that MOBILE6 models.
